Item-order effects: In search for a general modeling frameworkRianne JanssenKU Leuven | |
| Abstract: | The question whether the order of the items in a test has an effect on the test score already has been investigated in different fields, such as personality and clinical psychology, survey research, and educational measurement. It has been shown that item order can have an effect on the performance on the items and on the relationship of the items with the latent trait. The purpose of the present talk is to present an overview of the different research designs and model strategies used to study item-order effects. It will be argued that the investigation of item-order effects requires item response modeling, and that differences at both the person and the item side should be taken into account. |
