dichoDif 1.0: an R package for the detection of dichotomous differential item functioningSébastien BélandUniversité du Québec à Montreal | |
| Abstract: | In the past decades several methods have been proposed to detect differential item functioning (DIF) among dichotomously scored items. These methods, either relying upon item response models or not, are suitable for detecting (uniform or non-uniform) DIF between one reference group and one or several focal group(s). The purpose of this talk is twofold. In a first step, a broad summary of the most traditional methods is proposed, with particular attention to their specific properties. Then, a newly developed R package, called dichoDif 1.0, is presented. This package merges most of the previously described methods and is flexible with respect to the type of data input, the type of DIF effect under consideration and the selection of an item response model. We present its main functions and we discuss them briefly. The analysis of a real data set on verbal aggression will be performed “live” to illustrate the usefulness of the dichoDif package. |
