The synchronized brain in emotional prosody decodingDidier GrandjeanSwiss Center for Affective Sciences, University of Geneva | |
| Abstract: | How are emotionally salient events perceived and represented by our central nervous system? How do neuronal assemblies interact to allow humans to have appropriate adaptive responses to cope with unexpected situations? Local field potentials (LFPs) obtained by intracranial recordings in humans can be studied using recent methods in order to better understand distributed neural networks involved in emotional prosody decoding. The quantification of neuronal synchrony of LFPs now allows us to measure how the neuronal activities of distant brain regions interact dynamically during the perception of emotionally relevant events. Evidences of amygdale and orbito-frontal neuronal coupling will be discussed. |
