Division of the Psychology Department at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium
SCAD is dedicated to the study of child and adolescent development within schools and other social contexts, that is, family and peer systems. Our main aim is to gain more insight into developmental processes and the factors affecting them by conducting longitudinal research, intervention research, and experimental studies. In most of the studies conducted, a longitudinal design is employed and inter- and intra-individual changes in key variables are modelled and explained using advanced statistical techniques. Different age periods are targeted, varying from preschool to emergent adulthood.
The research group has two major sections: School Psychology and Child and Adolescent Development.
It is also responsible for teaching school psychology and developmental psychology to bachelor and master students in psychology and educational sciences. In addition, a junior staff member and a post-doctoral researcher at our Division teach at our subfaculty in Kortrijk.
